New Build suggestions

ok so i want to build a gaming rig for around 800-900$ with no monitor im probably going for 2GB of ram an im going to use the 8800GTS 320mb for the Gpu :

id also like to go with the intel core 2 duo E6300 for cpu.

I was wondering if you guys could give some suggestions on the remaining parts needed and maybe on the parts i already selected thanks also this is my first build.

Hi........ Be sure to check out the sticky in this forum regarding the Core 2 Duo price drop. If you wait until the lower prices get into the distribution channel, you will probably be able to get a 6420 for about the same price as the current 6300. The differences are a faster processor speed and a larger level 2 cache, both of which might come in handy for playing games.

Aside from the parts you picked out, you should look into something from the ASUS P5B series (exactly which one depends on what features you want, and what you can afford), with 2GB of Corsair VS DDR2-667 RAM.

For that powerful card, you'll need a beefy power supply. I suggest this corsair unit.

Then, look at a Seagate 7200.10 hard drive - 320GB best GB/price at the moment, and a Lite-on SATA Retail DVD burner.

With all that, you might find that $900 budget being pushed a little! The obvious place to save money would be the video card.

That's an excellent parts list, and I think dropping down to the 320MB version of that video card is a good idea in terms of value. I wouldn't recommend you look to save money on the power supply - it's a hugely important component, and the Corsair is excellent. It's available at ZipZoomFly for cheaper, though, including free shipping.

Keep in mind, a couple months and the scene will really change. Also, be sure to buy all the parts at once. You don't want to stretch purchases out over time, as quickly as the industry moves...

OK thanks for all the help and ill definitely be purchasing all the parts within about a month or less so that i can still exchange and return defective items to newegg though i think there will be few if any defective but always pays to be safe again thanks for the help
