New build for wife

I'm gonna build a fairly simple and hopefully low cost computer for my wife. She has an old Dell Dimension 4100 now that is still chugging away, but it's getting pretty long in the tooth.About all she does with it is surf the net, e-mail and online games(Pogo, etc) I want a C2D processor, maybe the 6300 or someting in that line. What motherboard? Cheap but good quality? I have a graphics card I will use from another computer(7600GS PCI-E) and memory(1GB (2x512) Kingston 533) also from same computer. I have Acer LCD monitor , keyboard and mouse and will use Antec case with 430W psu. I guess my main question is about the motherboard. What's a good, cheap one that will meet these requirements? Anyone? Thanks and best regards

I don't know that going cheap on the mobo is your best bet. Sounds like your other components are of decent quality. I'd look at ASUS boards. Check them out at www.newegg.com and take a look at your options.

Here's a good basic board that will support your other components just fine.

If you haven't bought a cpu yet, you could use this Pentium D and get excellent performace for the tasks you describe - and it's half the price of the 6300.

Thank you sir, that's pretty much what I was looking for. And you're right about the processor also. It'll be so much better than the 866MHz she is running now with that old Dell! Gotta admit tho since I went from Windows ME to XP Home on the old Dell it has been a faithful old workhorse! Thanks again, Frank
