Suggestions for building a machine on a $1,100 budget?
Hi, I'm in the market for a computer. I'm considering building one myself, but I've never done this before (but I've always wanted to try). My budget is about $1,100. I work developing eLearning and other web-based training for a living, so I will be using this machine to render video, develop graphics (photoshop), and also using a lot of Adobe Flash. Any suggestions on what components I should get for my budget? Also, what are some of the better brands when it comes to motherboards and other parts? The only thing I've kind of settled on is one of the Intel Core Duos. Thanks for any advice!
(By the way, I don't need a monitor, keyboard and mouse).

Look at ASUS mb, and intel C2D for processors.. Good quality PSU to look at are here.
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195 EVGA makes excellent video cards and are highly recommende.. Other than that just pick out a good case, and you all set.. From the sounds of it you don't need a sound card, most MB have built in sound that are just as good sound wise as some cards are.. Good luck

Honestly with 1,100 dollers you could build a top noch computer. You just have to make sure not to take it overboard in certain aspects.

Ok, quick run down:
The asus p5b is the recommended brand around PC. If you need a deluxe, wifi, or whatever, go ahead and get that. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE C2D Pack in as much power as you can afford. Price drops are taking place soon http://www.behardware.com/news/8579/...e-2-22-04.html Take your pick Vid Card http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category...-Video-Devices Frankly, I have no idea what vid card you would need to run flash and the other programs, and EVGA was recommended above. Take you pick, or (preferably) ask someone else. Hard Drive Seagate 7200.10 series This series has the price-storage sweet spot, no need to get any drive over 500gbs, just get 2 smaller ones for cheaper. Case Have fun ![]() PSU Flanzig says: "http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817189003 this Xclio is good for the price and should be enough power for your video card [GeForce 7950GT 512MB]. others: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104954 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103928" I second the first one listed, I used it and it has performed flawlessly. I think that is about it. Have fun, and good luck |
