Question no power to cd/dvd drives help, first build!

Hi

I have put my first system together but somehow the cd/dvd drives dont have any power and in the set up bios menu it says no optical drive. Having no floppy drive i cant get any installation cd's running. They are all plugged in and attached i have checked plenty of times. Im running the following:

Intel s775 core 2 duo cpu e6600 2.4ghz
sparkle video card 8800gts 320mb
western digital 500gig hdd
corsair performance ddr2 ram 2 x 1024
motherboard intel blkd975xbx2
thermaltake toughpower 600w
samsung dvd burner 18x
aopen dvd-rom

i have the aopen drive as the master the burner as the slave connected with the ide cable, the hdd is using sata2.

My question is when i turn the system on the fans start it powers up and i get to the on screen menu but should i see the drives work or at least flash during this start up process............??

Are the power cords from the power supply plugged into the optical drives? If they are, test the optical drives one by one. Sometimes if one optical drive is bad it'll make the other drive on the IDE channel act weird.

yeah, power plugged in all seems to be ok. when i go to the setup screen or bios screen it recognises my hdd but it does say no optical drive.

I will give it a try in a minute or two with just one drive plugged in.

Cheers.

Did you fix your problem yet?

Do the drives have any power going to them. When you power on... do the drives light up? If you press the eject button on the drives... does anything happen?

Do you have another IDE cable you can try? You could also try setting both of the drives to the cable select option.

Partially sorted out this problem. Currently i can use 1 drive so have the os installed now. Going to try a 80 wire ide cable for the two cd/dvd drives.
