Error when attempting to install XP on new build

I've got:

MOBO: ASUS P5W DH DELUXE
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
RAM: CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)
VIDEO CARD: Matrox Parhelia APVe
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
Power Supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX (520W)
DVD-Burner: LITE-ON 16X DVD±R DVD Burner, SATA Model SH-16A7S-06

It's a brand new system. All new parts, never used before.

It powers up fine. LED light comes on, fans spin, and I can get into the BIOS.
Then I inserted the Windows XP PRO SP2 installation disc, and started the OS install.
After about two minutes of loading various drivers, it stops and I get the following screen:

(I've hooked the Barracuda to the SATA1 connector on my MOBO, and the BIOS does recognize it.)

First I tried using another hard drive (I bought three identical Barracuda's), rebooted, and after two minutes of loading the XP install disc, I got the same error.

Then, I tried disconnecting the hard drive (so no hard drives were connected to my MOBO), rebooted, and after two minutes, got the same exact screen again.

What do I try now?

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

I appear to have solved the problem:

In the BIOS, there is a setting for "Configure STAT As"
The default was "Standard IDE". I had changed it to "AHCI" (Advanced Host Controller Interface")

I changed it back to the default, "Standard IDE" and tried the install from the XP installation disc. This time I got past that error screen show above.

Does anybody know why setting it to "AHCI" would cause this problem? Also, can I/should I later set it to "AHCI" (I've heard you might set better hard drive performace with this setting.)

When attempting to install Microsoft Windows XP or a previous version on an AHCI-enabled system will cause the setup to fail with the error message "set up could not detect hard disk drive...".

This problem can only be corrected by using a floppy disk with the appropriate drivers or by slipstreaming the appropriate drivers into the Windows XP installation CD. You could also leave the BIOS settings at default, install the OS and drivers, then go into the BIOS settings and enable AHCI afterwards.
