Fairly solid list.

Price out the CPU/RAM/Motherboard separately using the Asus P5B motherboard for kicks. That is a very popular and stable board. MSIs are not as high quality as Asus. And you really only need DDR2-667 unless you plan to overclock.

I'd bump up the hard drive to a Seagate 7200.10 drive with a 16MB cache. Very reliable and have a great warranty.

Lastly is to switch to a LiteOn with burning software. Most OEM versions do not have any.

Welcome to PCMech.

It cost a lttle less but i am not sure if i would ever overclock the ram as i don't know how hard it is i have only overclocked my graphics card hehe.

cheers

(edit) I mite as well buy this bundle then? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=BU-043-OK

more or less the same thing right?

Cool

There 1 thing i a bit concerned about is with that bundle do i have to mess around with the thermal past or mess with the fan/heatsink at all?

Also has anygot a pic of the fan/heatsink you get with this bundle and is it any good or should buy another, better fan/heatsink

thank you

That's a retail boxed processor, it comes with a perfectly good heatsink/fan with thermal interface material preapplied. It's a Intel heatsink and must be used to preserve the 3 year processor warranty. Read the thread in the Tips and Tricks forum for proper installation instructions.

I am not to sure on the monitor but it has a lot of good reviews.

And the sound card is it realy worth it? going from onboard and i also told you can get like 10% more fps as the cpu not doing the work anymore.

i added a DVI cable as reading it make your picture a lot better but i am not sure about this one hehe.

thanks.

That looks like a good list.

Hanns G monitors have fairly positive reviews, should be fine.

Check to be sure that LiteOn comes with Nero. Most OEM versions do not. Retail versions do.

I would hold on the sound card for now. Onboard sound is pretty good these days, its worth a try anyway. And you can always add one later. Also, with an 8800 card, you'll have plenty of FPS to spare.
