Please, help me find a replacement power supply

I bought an I-Star D300 rack mount case to build a computer for digital audio work. It is 3U tall. I would like to replace the power supply for a quieter one, but the 3U spacing is too narrow for the standard ATX power supplies. I am having trouble finding a replacement that fits or any info on what form facter the I-Star D300 ps unit has. Can anyone help me?

Is there a standard form factor for 3U server cases? I cannot seem to find any info on this.

Thanks

I already bought a SilenX 400W IXTREME ps, thinking it would work as a very quiet unit, but it does not fit in my case. The existing i-star TC-3U30 power supply is 120mm wide not 150mm like the standard ATX. It is too loud though, and I need to replace it.

Is there a special power supply form factor for 3U server/rack chassis? Is this a non-standard size that only I-Star is using? I have been trying to find a power supply with the correct dimensions all day, and I cannot seem to find an answer. Ugh!

Where can I find a quiet 400W+ ps that is 120mm wide, that will fit in an i-star D300 rackmount chassis?

minsonngo,

Thanks for the links. These power supplies will not fit my i-star D300 chassis. They are designed to fit up in the front of the Antec "Take 3" case and rest flat. The D300 has the ps situated in the back. You can also see that the power cables come out of the same side as the power chord socket. This is definitely non-standard.

I am wondering if I should bag trying to use a 3U and just do the more standard 4U chassis. I do not need all of that room, but the choices for power supplies are almost nill for 3U. You basically have to be happy with the ps that comes with a 3U rackmount chassis.

In one review of the Antec Take 3 chassis the author said that the power supply can be swapped easily for another atx power supply. That is if you want all of your mobo connection cables sticking out of the front panel.

I will definitely have to buy a new case for my computer. I cannot do digital music recording with the loud fans on the D300. Any suggestions would be welcome.
