FAN speed control and monitoring?
I've got an ASUS P5W DH DELUXE MOBO. It's got several (3-pin) connectors to hook up and to control fans. However, my case (a COOLER MASTER CM Stacker STC-T01-UWK) has three fans with just regular MOLEX connectors. I don't know how to connect the 3-pin connectors on my MOBO to the fans. Is there a way to do it, or do you need a special type of fan?

Usually some fans come with both type of connectors.
Otherwise you can buy some type of adapter that will allow you to do so. As found here: http://www.svc.com/4to3ad.html But... many recommend that you connect the fans directly to the PSU rather than to the motherboard. Last edited by minsonngo; 04-30-2007 at 11:42 PM. |

Hmmm ... does hooking up the fan through the motherboard result in any higher fan RPM's, or just slower? (compared to hooking it up direct to the PSU)

Shouldn't make a difference. People prefer hooking up to the PSU directly because it takes some strain off of the motherboard power circuit.
