It Works

I found this old ABIT KG-7 MB laying around that I purchased about 3 yrs ago from a auction. Never had the parts to test so I stored it were ever.. Took it in from the garage blew out all the dust and leaves that were in the case.. Bought these parts for it and she fired right up.

Athlon XP 1800+266 FSB Palomino core (New)
ATI Radeon 9600 128mb 4x8x AGP Video (New)
CORSAIR ValueSelect 256MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 266 (PC 2100)
Silverstone SST-ST365 ATX 360W PSU (new)
Segate Barracuda 7200.10 80GB HD 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 HD (new)
Thermaltake Cooler

I bought the thermaltake because newegg ran out of the cheap stuff.. I didn't buy a sound card yet, I had a case ANTEC Sonata II. Naturally did the out of the case build first then installed it into the case. Now I will purchase a cheap sound card OS throw it in a either give it the my youngest daughters boyfriend or sell it cheap to someone needing a real cheap pc... Also pulled the usb cables from the front of the case, because it won't work on this board.. I found the one dummy pin on the usb cable from the case does not match the position of the blank pin on the board itself..

Nice!

I was just thinking about doing the same thing all this week with all the older spare parts lying around in my workshop since I really have no use for them now.

You just inspired me to go ahead and do it! I just need to go out and get some good cheap cases and I am all set to build about a half dozen systems to sell for cheap with no OS or maybe Ubuntu running on it.

The only thing I need to buy is a floopy cable.. Weird thing is the one I have you know how some have one pin filled in because on pin is missing on the mb.. Well the one I have doesn't even match the position of the board, so I couldn't install the floopy yet..If you have that much laying around then ya I would build as many as I could and sell the for extra $$$

Yeah... hopefully most of the parts will work without any problems. I haven't really treated them delicately... if you get my drift.

Don't remember where I saw it... but I believe you can actually remove that "filled in" pin on the floppy cable which will save you having to spend a few bucks on a new floppy cable.

That is a pretty good looking case. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm still trying to figure out if I should go with a cheap case or pay more for a better one. I need to factor in the current average selling price based on each system specifications, my cost for the spare parts with depreciation, factor in my desired profit margin, and finally come up how much I want to spend on my cases.
