Things I Have Learned in My First PC Build
Check cable lengths before wasting an hour trying to get a drive into a bay which, if successful, would be too far from the nearest connector.
Have extra thermal goo before attempting to install a LGA775 heatsink/fan. Always, always leave any non-boot hard drives unconnected while installing and reinstalling Win XP. If something doesn't look right, wait until you've figured out why before proceeding. Always, always back up data regularly. When installing a SATA drive, make sure you have a floppy drive to install the SATA drivers before installing Win XP. |

i believe the last statement about the sata can be avoided if your installing a fresh windows onto the harddrive that already has service pack 2

That may be Minime ....
Perhaps I should have said, more precisely, to be sure you select the correct hard drive mode (for the BX2, it's IDE, RAID, or ACHI) *before* installing XP. Why can't they provide a BIOS manual with motherboards .... |
