I personally think a RAID 0 setup generally not worth it in most cases.
But... looks like you are all set to go though. |

Or... you can build a new computer hehe... just kidding!
Yeah... I guess if you have the drive already and the motherboard has RAID capabilities... go for it! |

Avoid Raid, I have two raptors drives and when I set it up for raid I thought cool. But when things went wrong and I had to do it all over again I just went and set it back to normal...

The problem with Raid 0 is that you essentially put all your eggs in one basket. One drive goes, they both go. There's no redundancy, there is no safety net.

I used RAID back in the day when it wasn't so popular -- IDE ATA/66 RAID 0 to be exact. While it was nice, after a couple months one of the drives became corrupted and I had to reinstall Windows. Turns out the drive had gotten bad sectors. A couple months later, the same thing happened again. After that point I quite using RAID, and haven't since.
What others have said is correct -- with RAID 0 there is no redundancy, so keep that in mind. Plus, I don't think you'll see that much improvement in terms of "real life speed" by raiding two 150GB raptors. If you are into video editing and the like and need the speed, then by all means consider it. |
