Dell Dimension 8200 - 400Mhz Conversion

Hi guys

I was wondering if anyone new if the board that Dell used in its Dimension 8200 is a standard ATX? It is the two riser variety in the case, and I can't find anything is Dells online support pages. I want to install a new motherboard, processor, and memory into my parents computer. Thanks

Yeah I know, I was hoping to save money on the case and power supply. It has Windows XP, does anyone know if there will be a problem using that license on the new build?

It is illegal, and probably won't even work. You're looking at getting a $90 copy of XP home...

Thanks for the info guys. It would be nice if you could transfer
a license from one computer to another like a normal license though.

this would be nice, but of course microsoft has to go against the river. The installation of XP on the old desktop is imprinted with the images of the hardware, and when it doesnt find a CPU that it recognises, the whole thing crashes. The boot CD included with that system also has the same images.

foiled by microsoft again....not to mention its not legal.

On the bright side, your new installation of Windows will be cleansed of any and all unwanted software.

If you google Freespire,
