First time builder
Hey this is the first PC that I'm going to build myself, just looking for feedback on the parts I picked and making sure everything goes together. I've never over clocked anything in my life, the only thing I'm going to attempt to over clock on my build is the processor.

Sounds like quite a powerhouse. I've heard complaints of various problems with that motherboard, but same goes for almost any mobo.

Welcome to PCMech. I have two suggestions.
Skip the SLI board, its not worth the money. Save a bit by going with the Asus P5B boards. Also, go with a LiteOn Retail DVD burner, they come with software. That Samsung does not.

Is the stock CPU cooler good enough or should I be looking for something better?

Stock CPU heatsink & fan is normally good enough and allows you to keep the warranty on the processor too. If you plan on overclocking... you may want to consider a good aftermarket unit. |

Stock cooler should be fine if you are not over-clocking. Also, if you dont use the stock cooler you void the warrenty on the CPU. If you decide to over-clock down the line you void the warrenty anyway so that is when you might want to upgrade. The Antic cases generally have good air flow so with stock heatsink and fans everything should run fine.
Kat Edit: second place........ |
