Another new build thread (joy...)
amazing how many hundreds of these threads one finds here. Alas, I am going to contribute to this madness. I've read up/consulted w/ people; I think I've got it pretty much down.
I've been running off the same laptop for a few years now. Despite being designed for gaming, it's constantly broken and generally annoying: overheating, artifacting, etc. I've learned the error of my ways: laptops are for work, desktops are for play. I'm going to be gaming pretty hardcore on this thing, and I want it to be fairly futureproof. I've got a grandfathered hdd and monitor, but everything else is going to be new. My one concern is will the PSU wont be able to handle the GTX Mobo: ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131028 Processor: Intel C2D 6600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115003 Vid card: EVGA GeForce 8800GTX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130072 PSU: CORSAIR 520HX 520W Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139001 RAM: Corsair VS ddr2 667 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145098 Optical:Lite-On SATA DVD-RW retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106046 OS: WinXP Home I have peripherals already. Thanks for your advice (again: is that PSU ok?) |

The PSU you picked out is fine.
The minimum requirements for that video card is a 450 watt power supply. |
