Thanks everyone! Today I successfully completed my first build. Took me a few hours, and i definately worked up a sweat at one point, but It all worked out. I couldn't have done it without the help from the people here. After reading so many problem threads, I know how lucky I am that everything worked on first boot. I type this post from my brand new pc
I wish the best of luck to everyone just starting, and I guarantee you it gets easier. I spent so much time planning this thing, then this afternoon I started, and was done in a few hours. I did, however manage to install the motherboard with the wrong screws. Then when I got to the hard drive case I said some words...But it wasn't too hard. Hardest part was getting the driver for my case display and volume knob. Sigmatel audio HATES vista.

Congrats. Enjoy it. Ya you rarely get though your first build with no problems at all, but they're usually a simple enough fix if your careful. Sounds like yours was a relativily good build. Trust me the second one goes 100% easier. I had the worst luck getting my first motherboard to line up right and thought I'd crack it putting the RAM in, but it went together with no major problems. You have to admit it's a nice experience working on a system you put together, stress and all considered.

Congrats! It's definitely worth it to be running your 'very own' pc.

Glad your build went smoothly for you. I am still working on getting the parts I need for mine, and I hope my build goes as well.
