Building an Audio/Video Editing PC

Just attaching a nice, neat spread sheet

I don't know very much about computer hardware, but I did help my dad build our family computer a couple years ago, and I have done some research. My main uses are Video and audio editing, along with some gaming. I am on a budget of somewhere between $750 to $1000, preferably on the lower end. I just want to make sure everything will work together, and that there isn't similar performance for a better price. I also eventually hope to get 7.1 surround sound for the computer to play music in my room.

Welcome to PCMech. I have a few suggestions on your parts list.

Why get a low quality SLI board when you have an ATI video card. We recommend the Asus M2N-E motherboard.

The PSU that comes with an Apevia case is total junk. You'll definitely need to replace it. Check out this thread: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

Finally, are you set on AMD? Intel Core 2 Duo's are very powerful and affordable. Certainly worth a look and they can fit into the budget easily.
