My new gaming PC shuts down with the following blue screen message.
"A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" Can anybody recommend the correct Bios set up, or is the otimum setting acceptable? My PC consists of Mother board: Gigabyte GA 965P DQ6 Rev 1.0 Hard Drive: Western Digital Raptor 150GB Graphics Card: Gigabyte 8800 GTX 768MB Ram: Kingston Hyper X (2 x 1 GB) CPU: Intel Core Extreme quad core QX6700 CD: Asus DVD burner Power supply: 750Watt I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. Thanks Tintin |

I would just load the default or optimal settings. Does that get rid of your blue screen?

Neither default or optimal settings get rid of the error / blue screen shut down? This why I think it must be something wrong with the bios.

What version is the BIOS?
It looks like the board doesn't support the QX6700 processor until version 6 and up. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...me=GA-965P-DQ6 |

Your processor doesn't have the be F6... the motherboard BIOS version has to be F6 or above.
When you power on during POST... see if you can catch the version of the BIOS... or try going into your BIOS Setup and see if it is in there. By the way... what is the brand and model of your PSU? |

I just checked... you can't see the BIOS version in the BIOS setup.
You just have to catch it really quick when you power on the computer and it POSTs. Its usually at the very top of the screen right next the the BIOS name. |

Here is a link to download the latest BIOS for your board: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...S&FileID=12753
Best way to update is to follow their instructions here: http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Moth...flashBIOS.aspx

If you run the Gigabyte utility that comes packaged with the CD, you will find a bios flash and updater routine built into the software app.

Yep... just follow the link Alaron posted and flash your BIOS to a newer version... the verision you have... F5... doesn't have support for your processor. You need F6 or above and you will be ready to rock and roll.

Get your manual or download it and look on page... 60... it will show you how.
EDIT: Alaron posted a good link to the instructions here: http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Moth...flashBIOS.aspx |
