New Build Not Recognise FUll HDD Capacity

Hi Guys

I have just finished my first build. All went well except for one minor thing. I installed a new 320gig SATA 16mb HDD and it is only recognised as i think it was 127gig. I installed XP pro then SP1 then SP2. Everything else seems fine re proceesor ram etc. As far as i can tell anyway. Any suggestion or thoughts on this.

Thanx in advance

Cheers
Chris

Go into Disk Management and your missing hard drive space should be there as unallocated space. You can then partition and format it and it will be ready to go.

Yep... the missing space should be under Disk Management as unallocated space... you then right click on it... partition and format it for use.

Only up to 300 not 320gig

OK
I found the extra unallocated space of approx 171gig and formated / partitioned in using disk management. I believe it is only seeing a total of about 300gig instead of 320gig. ANy ideas on this as there is no more unallocated space.

Thanx again
Chris

Yep just read the article TwoRails linked to... it will tell you exactly why you are only seeing about 300gb.
