Help with new PC setup

I had a p4 2.66 RDRAM-based PC from ABS and the ASUS MB crapped out on me last week after about 4 years. I put in a new MB, CPU, RAM and PSU with all the other components I had. Initially, Windows wouldn't start and the machine was in a constant reboot loop. I repaired/re-activated Windows XP using the recovery disk from the original computer manufacturer (ABS) and I was able to log into Windows. However, I'm frequently receiving Blue Screen errors and my system isn't stable. I tried updating XP to SP2 with a disk MS sent me but I keep getting errors. Right now, the system is operable for 5-30 mins and then I get a BSOD. Is there a compatibility issue with my moterboard, CPU and Ram? Is there something else causing these problems? I've got my HD backup up to an external drive. Should I do a clean install of XP? Reformat HD? Do I need a new version of XP for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here's my system:
Intel Pentium D 935 Presler 3.2
ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA
FIC 9700 Pro
Antec 500W Basiq PSU
2 x Kingston 1GB DDR2 667MHz
2 x Lite-On DVD

You need an XP cd, not a recovery/repair disk that came with your original machine ( I'm surprised that worked at all for you. ).
It's a good bet that disk has software on it intended for the original matherboard, not your new one.

Thanks. I think my recovery disk includes a full version of XP Pro as I was able to re-install XP but I'm sure you're right about the software for my original mobo. My friend also mentioned that my original mobo might've corrupted XP. I'll order an OEM XP Home disk from newegg as I never found a need for the Pro features. I wish I would've thought about this when I ordered the other components last week.
