Installing parts before all are received...

Is it OK to start installing my case before I receive all the parts I need. I do not mean the motherboard, processor, etc. I am referring to the dvd roms, hard drives, power supplies, things like that???

Nothing to stop you installing the hard drive and optical drives in the case before hand, but I'd leave everything else. You might consider performing an out-of-case post to confirm that your core components are working correctly.

I can't see why not but it depends on what your feel more comfortable putting in first. Personally, I prefer installing the PSU in first before anything.

I was not sure if was going to hamper the total installation in the long run. I am slowly buying the things I need, and I thought I could install the optical drives and hard drives just to get them out of the way.

Yeah, I will do that when I get the main parts of my build. Once that time comes, I will be asking more questions related to the actual installation of the core components. I never built a computer from scratch, so I am nervous about the time when I first turn it on. That will be in June, so I have some time to prepare.

You won't connect the drives during the out of case post, so nothing to stop you installing them.

I don't know if one of us have already given you any of these guides before, but they're well worth a read through, and should allay your fears somewhat!
