Can you give us the system details (specs)? That would help quite a bit. A cheap quality power supply could certainly cause problems...

Hmm...I'm not quite sure what's going on. The computer is crashing (you lose video?) when you try to shut down the computer? When does it ask to restart? Is this a new computer or has it been working for a while?

New computer. I mean when I installed a program or update windows or anything that tell me to restart, i do everything restart and the log appears window is shutting down, and than the screen goes black with nothing, but the cpu and everything is still running isntead of restarting again and starting all over. So i have to press reset to restart and than it does restart....So weird.....

Any one can help?

What operating system are you using?

What kind of background programs are running on your computer? Do you have a lot of icons by the clock?

If you're using WinXP see if anything on this web page helps.

If you are losing video during the BIOS splash screen then it is probably a problem with the video card. If you are using on-board video, would need to try a video card to check whether the on-board video is going bad or not.

I am using Windows XP. And no, i don't have a lot of icon because it's a brand new computer that I built. And also, everything is ok, is just when I restart the computer for any reason when I install something or after windows update I have to restart, eveything works normally, windows shut down, and instead of restarting, it DOESNT and also the screen is black with nothing but the CPU and everything is running.

Thanks

If you are using the onboard video on that motherboard you have... I assume that the drivers are the most current since the board is relatively new... PLUS the Biostar website does NOT even have any drivers available for download for your board as of yet: http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails...%20MICRO%20754

The board doesn't seem to be all that great either based on the price and the Reviews at NewEgg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138053

I wouldn't be suprised if the issue is just the motherboard itself.

Do you simply have a CD in the optical disk drive (CD or DVD drive)? Some motherboards running XP like to hang on shutdown with a disk in the drive.
