I sold my last build Im looking for some good recommendations on a new build. Whats the best socket right now, Thinking AMD here!!!

Actually the "best" processors now are the Intel C2D CPUs. AMD doesn't really have anything to match the C2D performance yet.

And do you already have some parts you're going to use or does the $600 have to cover everything? Do you need a monitor? What about the OS...do you need that too? Keyboard? Mouse? Speakers? If you need everything then $600 isn't going to get you much of a computer. But if the $600 is only for the computer then you can build a fairly decent general use computer. You can't build a decent gaming rig for only $600 if that's what you're trying to build, unless you have some of the parts already.
