New Build not working
Hi,
I need help with PC i'm building. Main Components: Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition (QX6700) Abit AW9D-Max Motherboard Asus 8800 GTX graphics card 4 GB of OCZ memory The problem i'm having is that it won't boot past the "Abit Max" logo screen. I have been into the BIOS but now it won't go past this screen. I have reset the CCMOS and this still doesn't help. I want to put Vista Ultimate on the SATA drive but it just won't seem to boot at all. I am now worried that the motherboard is damaged somehow and maybe even other components. Any suggestions as to what I can do?? Thanks |

Are your drives being recognized in the bios?

It did recognise the the hard drive in the Bios at first but now I can't get into it to see if it still does.
I setup the boot sequence so it read the CD rom as that had the Vista disc in it. It said that it was "loading windows files" but it seemed to freeze. I stared again and cleared the BIOS but no luck. |

What kind of power supply do you have? What you've got there needs a fairly hefty quality brand power supply.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to double check you've got the heatsink snapped in all the way. It might not have good contact and is overheating after being on a few moments.

Try leaving in only one stick of memory and see if that works. One of the sticks could be faulty.
Also double check and make sure everything is seated correctly. Try another SATA cable if you have another one handy. Try leaving in only the essential components... video card, ONE stick of memory, power supply, motherboard, processor, and the processor heatsink & fan. See if it will post completely then. Ok got it fixed.
The power supply was fine, i have and Enermax Galaxy 1000w. The problem was memory. I have 4 x 1 GB modules Took out 3 GB and system booted up fine so I installed the OS. Originally the BIOS detected the 4 GB so I didn't think there would be a problem with it but since then I have tried the good memory in slots Dimm1,2,3 & 4. Everything worked fine. I tried the faulty memory in the same slots and it never booted so in the end it was faulty memory. Anyway, system works fine now. Cheers to everyone for their advice. |
