Need help!
I have had my Pc that i made myself for a couple of months now and it has been working fine running Windows Xp. I recently bought a Lite On 20x dvd drive and installed it today. To test to see if it was working i turned the pc on, it loaded up the front screen as normal showing my devices and memory.
Then as it went to load up Xp it said, Boot from Cd/Dvd Boot from Cd/Dvd and then didnt load Xp, even though i have my Hdd as my boot option and it has Xp currently installed on it, so i went to check to make sure my bios hadnt changed and it was normal saying first boot option Hard Disk. Whats going on ? |

The first thing that comes to mind is to check the hard drive connections. Make sure you didn't knock anything loose while installing the DVD drive. Also, do you have the jumper set correctly on the new DVD drive? Is the new DVD drive on the same IDE channel as the existing one? Or is it a SATA drive?

Double check the bios settings for the HDD. Even tho you have the hdd before the dvd in the boot list you may need to edit the hdd list (a separate listing). Sometimes adding another drive will cause the hdd boot list to change and a non-bootable disk will be listed as the first hdd on the list.
