What motherboard (brand and model) do you have?
How have you confirmed the Video Card slot is not working? |

If your computer has a AGP video card and the slot doesn't work you can get a PCI video card and plug it into the PCI slot closest to the AGP slot.
But we do need more information before we can really help you out here. What kind of computer is this? Home built or name brand? Are you sure the video card slot is dead and not the video card itself? Cricket

Before you buy anything, just what kind of problems are you having with your computer?
That motherboard is pretty old so the computer must be too. Explain why you think the video card or the video card slot is bad. The problem may be something else entirely. Cricket

What brand and model was the video card you used to test with?
The ABI KR7A board has a AGP 2.0 slot... this means that is will only take... 3.3 volt video cards running at 1x or 2x speeds. More than likely... if the video card you tried did fit in the slot fine... then it is probably a 3.3 volt video card since the slot and card are keyed the same way. The AGP slot probably is dead... you have two options if that is the case... install a PCI based video card... or buy a new motherboard. Last edited by minsonngo; 06-06-2007 at 12:09 PM. |

You should try using a PCI card first to ensure that it just the slot, not the mobo.
If the PCI slot doesn't work, then replace the mobo.
