PC Video issue

I recently built my first Window's PC and am having a problem I just can't figure out. Every time I put a DVD in to watch a movie the computer shuts down and restarts. Also, if I try watching a video online (Youtube etc) the computer will periodically just hang up.

I'm using windows xp pro, and the unit has an ASUS motherboard, AMD cpu and nvidia graphics card.

Any input would be appreciated.

Do you have the newest video card drivers installed? How about the newest Windows updates?




Does it freeze when you do other things that are not video intensive?


What are your system specs? Please give the brand and model of each component.

Yes, please post the complete system specs for this computer...list all the parts by brand and model including the power supply.

Also tell us what program you're using to watch DVD movies with.

And also tell us all the background programs you've got running on the computer.

Did you install all the necessary drivers from the motherboard CD?
