Intel-AMD switch

I was running XP on a P4 3.0/Intel Mobo, but decided to upgrade. I've been meaning to go AMD, so I moved my P4 into my Linux box and bought an Athlon X2 3800+ and an Abit AV8 (for the 4 RAM slots and AGP).

I knew I'd have to do a repair install of XP when I rebooted, but I can't seem to get anything to boot up. My primary drive is a WD on my SATA-0. The only other things connected are my floppy and CDROM, currently on my primary IDE.

In my CMOS, it recognizes those drives, and when it boots past that, it shows my SATA disk. But then it runs through the PCI device listing, says "Verifying DMI Pool Data" and then "Boot from CD:" and then hangs. (My boot order is Floppy, CDROM, HD.) When it first hits Boot from CD, I hear the XP disk wind up, but then nothing.

I've already reset my CMOS jumper, but I still have the same problem. Any ideas?

thx

I do believe that with that mobo, you have to install the SATA drivers first, or install to a PATA drive.

Thanks, I was trying to figure out how to get the floppy to boot for the drivers. I read you have to do it after Windows setup, but then someone else said to do it during setup (F6). But I figured out you have to turn OFF SATA RAID ROM to get the SATA drives to show up as boot drives. That was my problem. It seems to be working now.
