Removing a Scythe Ninja?!!

Does anyone have experience removing a Scythe Ninja?
I got an Opteron 185 to replace my X2 4200, and removing the Ninja has been irksome.
I press down on the 4 clips on the corners and it won't come out of place.
If I press too hard, it feels as if my motherboard is going to snap in half.
Is there an easier way to go about this?

Thanks in advance!
Shawn

Is the motherboard in or out of the case?

You may have to twist the heatsink back and forth to break the bond the thermal compound has with both surfaces.

It is usually easier if you pull the motherboard out from the case.

EDIT: Cricket beat me to the punch.

Doh.. was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to that. It's still in the case. I'll try again

Just make sure you reconnect and reinstall anything you had to remove after you put the motherboard back into the case.

Did you use the sticky pad on the back plate?

yes, I didn't remove the motherboard, too lazy to remove and reconnect everything.
I had the sticky pad on the back. Unhooking the first two clips was a nuisance, but pushing them out with a flathead made it much easier. Snapping it back into place after setting my new CPU was a lot easier the second time around.
