WinXP Pro RAM maximum amount?
I built a new PC about 1 month ago. Everything is working fine. I decided to add an additional 2GB of RAM to the 2GB I installed initially.
With 4GB of RAM, it won't even start up. I took out the original RAM and installed the new to make sure the new sticks were OK. It runs fine with them. So all the RAM I have is OK. Does WinXP not work with this much RAM? Here's what I have ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard (4) 1GB sticks of G.Skill RAM (DDR-II PC2-6400) Thanks in advance. Phil K. |

32-bit versions of Windows only utilize 3 to 3.2GB of memory max. You need 64-bit versions of Windows you if you want to utilize more.
But... in your case... I think it is a motherboard issue. Have you tried only three sticks? |
