Ok so I just bought a new rig not too long ago and I finally got all the pieces in. I got it all together after leak testing my water cooling system for about 24 hours. So I get it all hooked up and press the power button and everything turns on for about a second and cuts right back off. So I tried it a few more times and got the same result and eventually got to where nothing would happen.
So here's what all I've tried: Resetting the cmos, unplugging everything and plugging it back in, going down to only one gfx card, one stick of ram, and the processor. I even took the board completely out and put it back in. When I put it together I was working on a wooden table, and when I wasn't working on the motherboard it was on cardboard. I know it's not the psu because i had to jump it off in order to leak test my system. Does anybody have anything else that they can tell me to do other than take the motherboard completely out of the case? Because I'm about to go try that. |

Shut down after a couple of seconds on is usually caused by improper mounting of mother board to case with the standoffs in the wrong place or none at all causing a short or improper mounting of the CPU heatsink or water block causing overheating of the CPU. This could be due to too much or none at all of thermal compound or heatsink/water block not tight to the CPU.

It doesn't turn on for a few seconds, it turns on for less than a second, no beeps, just the fans come on and spin a few times and then stop Immediately. I have the motherboard mounted correctly on it's standoffs. I worked with it on cardboard and a wooden floor, and a wooden table.
Here are some specs. Case: Thermaltake Armor LCS (Water cooled) Mobo: Asus PN32-E SLI CPU: Intel E6600 Ram: Corsair XMS2 (4gb) And yes i have tried only one stick. GPU's: Two EVGA 7600gt's Hd: Western Digital Raptor 74 gb PSU: OCZ GameXstream 700watt Anything else i need to list? All i'm really looking for is for someone to point me in the direction of what it is. Like, PSU or motherboard, because I don't believe that anything else is wrong with it. And I seriously doubt that it's the psu because I jumped it off to leak test it. |

Troubleshoot the problem with the motherboard out of the case and start with only the core components...motherboard, CPU, CPU heatsink, video card, 1 stick of RAM, power supply, monitor. Use a screwdriver to jump start it and see if it'll remain running or not. If it does the same thing then you know one of these parts is causing the problem.
