Gigabyte motherboard GA-N650SLI-DS4 nForce 650i SLI Vs Zalman 9500

well this isnt really a battle its just a battle to find decent motherboards that will suit the zalman 9500, ive been looking at the Gigabyte motherboard GA-N650SLI-DS4 nForce 650i SLI and people who know this board it has a unsualy shaped northbridge heat sink, picture below

i read a review some where that this heatsink it 32mm high.....im not sure if that gives the zalman enough space or should i just get in a replace heat sink...a better one?...any suggestions?

Chipset heatsinks tend to be a problem with large aftermarket heatsinks. Generally you look for a heatsink to fit the mobo, not the other way around. Would try the heatsink that comes with a CPU first.

Edit: Looked at your sig and you don't add the speed of the 2 CPU cores for an overall speed. Each core runs at 3.4gHz. and that is the speed of the CPU.

Stick with the stock heatsink and fan. They work fine and will allow you to avoid voiding the warranty on the CPU.

Do you honestly need SLI? I would prefer to go with the 680i series of chipset if so. But my suggestion would be to keep off of that route and go for a quality Asus 965P board (P5B).

Well just remember that the E6600 runs at 2.4GHz and only at 2.4GHz (you don't add both cores to get 4.8GHz) when you change the specs in your sig. Adding both cores and posting the double speed makes you look like a real newb.
