Computer turns on for a half a second, but then turns off

hello, i am currently building pc, and i have problem with it. i need to know what the problem is/ the pc turns on, but then very shortly after, turns off. lights turn on and such. i have a 680w psu, and that should be enough to power it. any suggestions?

What are the system specs? Brand and model of each component please. Don't forget the PSU.

do you have the standoff on properly. You could be shorting the mobo.

I'm guessing the OP has the heatsink and fan installed improperly or it is a PSU issue. We need the specs though.
