Hard drive vanished?
Hello there, I had a success with my build refference here
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=181839 Everything went perfectly fine, posted without issue, got the OS installed and everything set up, even was playing video games. I restarted several times without issue. Then just now when I shut it down to go to dinner. I come back and after starting it started doing a memory test, I went into the bios and it had lost the voltage settings for the ram. So I reset that, but then it did not have anything at all for boot priority. I checked it out further and it had no drives listed at all. it fails to see the hard drive anymore and I am a bit concerned, just because, I really spent the entire day enjoying this new build then to come back and have a problem I dont really know what to do with. I tried putting the sata cable in a different slot though that did not do anything. I am really uncertain of what to do so any help would be appreciated. Very angsty about this, having to dig my other pc out of the closet to try and figure this out. |

Try resetting the bios. Remove the battery for about 15 minutes and then replace it and reboot.

If clearing the CMOS does not work... you may want to try another PSU. I'm not very confident with the Coolmax PSU you have installed.

Alright, took the battery out and will give that a shot, before I did that I tried a different sata cable.
Are you suggesting the psu killed the hd? I am not sure what is oging on, as initially the power button would turn the pc on or off immediately, but now it just kills the display and leaves all the fans running. I mean, should I take it all apart? It is a tad difficult to move around with all the ram installed. |

Try clearing the CMOS as sgtspector suggested first.
If that does not work... I would try another PSU. |

5 more minutes on the battery ;3 Could you perhaps direct me to some source of information explaining why this sort of thing would happen. Just a tad confusing >_>;

I took the 3 other sticks of ram out before I tried it this time because I figured resetting the cmos would remove the ram voltage and 4 sticks might be a bit much. It worked right away though I am a bit confused as to why this even happened?
Of course I am so grateful for the assistance, this is really the best community I know of ;3 Though any explanations would be greatly appreciated how I could possibly avoid having to reset the cmos every time I shut it down ;3 |

Did you overclock anything before the problem occured?
You may want to update the BIOS to the newest version: ftp://ftp.evga.com/bios/NF68_P28.iso Its seems there was a lot of updates for issues with this board. Here are the instructions: Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, etc) Restart machine, and set the CD Drive as the primary boot device The BIOS flash process will begin, Press “Y” to program BIOS After flash remove the CD, power off PC Completely Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS Last edited by minsonngo; 06-09-2007 at 12:16 AM. |

Nope, not a thing, sorry for the delay as I was switching back.
I mean, it was running very well, I played games with no slowdown then checked the temps and everything was within normal rate. Just not sure really >_>; |

Thank you very much, if it does occur again I will do that. Though, yeah I should probably do that right away _(. _.)_ procrastinator .. I removed the usb cables and the 1394 cables as I am not sure if I even put those in the right slots.
