Is this a good budget system, $523 total...

A friend just sent me this setup, I think it looks ok, I will change the optical to something lite-on, hard drive to a 250gb model, but other than that what do you think? Any suggestions on a MB in this price bracket?

yes, but switch that WD Caviar SE for a Seagate BARRACUDA 7200.10 Make sure it is Barracuda 7200.10 because they are very fast and much better quality. this one actually competes with a WD Raptor. Get it. Also more bang for the buck.

as for the drive>its a little loud but great a quality lite-on:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106072

as for the motherboard:this is a very good Gigabyte budget board:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128049

Not bad. I would also change the motherboard. Asus is good, but VIA and Intel do not mix well. How about the Asus P5L-MX instead? Its a great quality budget board.
