Custom build BSOD
Hello all, I built a custom tower for my sister a few months ago. Used the ASUS P5B-VM mobo, Core 2 Duo E6300, 2GB of Corsair DDR2 667 Ram, a 250 GB SATA II Seagate Hard drive, with Windows Media Center Installed. Anyway, now it BSOD a few seconds after login. The BSOD says that igxprd32.dll is corrupt or something is causing that driver to operate in a continuos loop. I've tried 3 different versions of the driver for the onboard video, and it still BSODs. It will operate in VGA mode though. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions I'm all ears.
If I can't get it fixed I guess I can always buy a video card, but I would rather not spend anymore money on this machine right now. Thanks in advance guys. |

All I could suggest and don't do it just yet (wait on some other people to post) would be to format the computer and do a fresh install of Windows... Sounds like it's either a driver issue (which you said you used 3 different drivers), a video card issue if you can get it to work in VGA (then it might not be) or a corrupted OS. but that's just my guess.

well, my sister did tell me that the problems started when she first tried to use the actual media center software that comes with the OS.

Well like I said, wait until some other people voice their opinions, but it could be corrupted files and you may need to do a restore or a clean install period. You didn't overclock did you?

That's your graphics driver. Can you boot in safe mode? If so, boot up and reinstall the driver from ASUS. Check for dual drivers too.

ok, I've tried memtest and it didn't show any errors. I tried to reinstall the driver from the ASUS cd, but its still having the same problem. I'm not sure its not just reinstalling the same drivers over and over again. I am going to try the safe mode method, and if that doesn't work I am just going to try putting in a video card at work and if that fixes the problem I guess I will buy a video card from newegg. Thanks to all for your help.
BTW, anyone familiar with this video card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102078 I think if I have to buy one this is prolly what I'll get. She doesn't game or anything so I think it should be more than enough. |
