No display on startup.

Well this is a new computer, I followed the steps in the sticky, and have my heatsink, processor, video card, and one stick of ram (that i know works), and my PSU.

These are what they all are:

MB EVGA 122-CK-NF67-T1 680I SLI 775
PSU OCZ|OCZ700GXSSLI 700W RT
CPU INTEL|C2Q Q6600 2.40G 775 8M R
VGA BFG BFGR88768GTXOCE 8800GTX R

This is the second computer I've built so I might have forgotten about some wires or something. I've got the two PCI-E power cords to my video card, the one that goes from my monitor to my video card. A 20 pin and 4 pin connectors to the 24 pin ATX. Two 4 pin connectors to the CPU power. And the CPU fan plugged into the motherboard. When I turn the power supply on, one blue light on my motherboard lights up, and when i use a screwdriver to start it, another light turns green, and one more turns yellow/orange.

It's all outside of the case right now, the graphics card fan is spinning, the motherboard fan is spinning, the cpu fan is spinning, but there's no display on my monitor. I've tried two different monitors and just can't figure out the problem. I don't have any spare video cards to test with, i tried my video card in both PCI-E slots.

I think I'm doing something wrong but I'm not really sure what, maybe my video card isn't mounted in right, but I'm not sure how else to do that. Anyway, any advice would be great, and if you have any more questions I'll try to do my best to explain.

I might have missed it in your post, but is the aux 4pin or 8pin motherboard connector plugged in? You should have both a 20+4 connector and a second connector that plugs in near the CPU. That's the one most people miss, and double check that both are pushed in all the way. Made that same mistake on my last build.

My power supply has two plugs labeled CPU1 and CPU2 that are both 4 pins that I plugged into the 8pin connector on my motherboard. I'm not sure if this is what I was supposed to do, but I didn't have an 8pin connector there.

yes...you have connect the 8-pin correctly)

If you know the ram works, i'm going to guess thats its a mobo or video card problem. can you test your video card in your other machine? if so...that would help you detirmine which.

No, I can't, my other machine has no PCI-E slots.

Do you get any beeps when you start up?

Try taking the video card out and starting it like that. If the motherboard is working properly, it should beep to complain that there's no video card. That would indicate the the vid card is probably the problem.

If it doesn't notice that you removed the video card, then I'd bet it's the motherboard that's bad.

Double check the main power connectors...the 20 pin and 4 pin in the 24 pin motherboard socket...one of the pictures shows the connector isn't inserted all the way into the socket.

The 4 pin part of the 20-4 main power are definitely in now, they are both locked in place.

I don't think my motherboard has a speaker unfortunately, but maybe the lights tell something?

I found a few problems so far that I have fixed.

My old ram wasn't fitting in the slot right, so I put my new ram back in.
My video card wasn't seated all the way in the PCI-E slot, and it seems to be now.

I'm concerned about the two 4-pin connectors to the 8-pin CPU power slot, the second 4-pin (CPU2) doesn't look like it matches up right with the squares and rounded squares on the pins, but it still fits fine.

Some of them talk about getting dead boards, but I'm not sure if it can be dead if it's lighting up, and powering fans etc.

I can put up new pictures if you guys want, but I'm not sure what else I can try.

Update:

I just left it on for a few minutes, and the part i can touch of the top of the processor feels pretty warm, so I think that is at least heating up which means it's working right?

Your case should have come with a speaker which you should have plugged into your motherboard...close to were you plugged in the HDD light, and power on light.
I'm actually thinking (after looking throught the manual) that your case doesn't have a speaker port for the BIOS. The 'front audio' has to do with the possible audio inputs on your case...and I can't tell if it is also mean to be used as a connector for the case speaker.

I plugged in the 4-pin molex to the power supply, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I'm going to contact my friend today or tomorrow to see if I can borrow his video card and ram to test those out.

Have you tried these sticks on the board? Because from your earlier pictures I see a different stick. Just fyi, that 4 pin molex is only optional for SLI..

eheheheh.....i use an 8800 gts and i don't use (didn't use) that aux 4pin molex connector for the vid card! my system is completely stable

Yes I've tried all 4 of them in the motherboard, one of them is currently in now. My old one didn't fit right so I'm not using that.

I would clear the CMOS, and try again with the G.Skill set.

You can also double check that powersupply, try hooking it up to another system which can support it. You never know..could be FUBAR even though its quality.

If no amount of troubleshooting ends up working, I would start to RMA one thing at a time and see what happens. Videocard and mobo would be the first..I wouldn't be suprised if this was another DOA Evga board. They are getting particularly famous for that.

I tried clearing the CMOS and that didn't seem to do anything, I'll wait til my friend can come over to test the video card and ram with his working pieces tomorrow. If those don't work I guess I'll RMA the motherboard. Should I get a different type, or just get a replacement?

If you *really* plan to go SLI, go for the Asus P5N32-E SLi. Otherwise go with a Asus P5B or P5K series if thats not a issue.

But then I realized the video card wasn't seated right and I pushed it all the way in, and BAM, booted up and showed the display on my monitor! I'm SO HAPPY.

Looks like everything's good to go!

I'll update this thread if anything else goes wrong, but I have a feeling that my luck is changing =D.
