Heatsink issues

I have gotten to the point where my motherboard is screwed into the case. with minor setbacks along the way. for starters i put too much heatsink compound, so i had to take it back off and clean it up and start over. I hope it was not necessary to clean it with rubbing alcohol because i dont have any and dont feel like going out to get somewhere with my computer parts all over the place.

So i cleaned off my pcu and heatsink as well as i could with a dry paper towel, and re-applied the compound.

Then i went on, installed my 2 gig sticks of ram, and found the holes to put the standoffs in the correct places. then, when i went to situate the motherboard in the case i ran into problems. for starters i couldnt get the outputs to go under the little metal tabs on the back i/o sheild that the board came with, so i stuck my finger in the hole to push them up - big mistake. Cut my finger and didnt even notice until i saw some red stuff on the video output . thought hmm thats strange, theres some red stuff on my motherboard....oh wait, thats blood. Im bleeding.

So i got a bandage and went back to work. Cleaned up the blood, and in the process nudged my heat sink ever so slightly. now it didnt cause any damage, but it worries me. When i did that, i realized that the huge heatsink on my pcu is not quite stuck in place. i mean, you cant move it up or down, but it does rotate quite easily.

When i stand my computer up, will it slide? The particular motherboard i have is a MSI P6N diamond lga 775 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130080, and the heatsink is a thermaltake Big typhoon http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106080

also, my motherboard's usb outputs dont quite reach the i/o sheild, as they are blocked partially bi those little metal brackets which i seem to have cut myself on. are they supposed to be flush with the back of the case? or is 1-2 mm going to cause problems. I guess i could plug in a usb cord and find out.

edit - ok i see the problem... one of the little tabs that comes off of the sheild i forgot to pop off, so it was being pushed out by what i think is my svideo output, causing it to bulge. These cases and motherboads should come with more detailed instructions...

ok my computer works fine with the blood, except the outputs for sound dont work on the back of the computer going directly into the motherboard. Probably due to blood seeping into it. I think i might just have to get a sound card, oh well. but in the meantime im getting sound from the front sound port on my case,
