Building a new computer help!
Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a new computer and need your help! I need advice on how to build a good computer to run Engineering software like Pro-Engineer. I wont be playing any games on this comp, so basically i want the best combination of parts to run engineering software only. Please give me advice regarding what Motherboard, Processor, RAM, Graphics Card, power supply, and case i should get for this purpose. My price limit total for all these parts is around $1000 max. Thanks for the help!

An Intel Core 2 Dou would probably be a good place to start. The E6600 offers a lot of performance for a nice price tag ($220 or so). Does this software do any rendering, like say Autocad? If so, you might look at a workstation graphics card. Otherwise something basic'll do.
For a motherboard look at the ASUS P5B. 2 gigs of memory is super cheap, so go for that. You'll want DDR2-667. Also the size of power supply will depend on the video card needed.
