Smile cmos errors

I am building a new machine Iam at the point were Iam booting to cmos screen.
this is the measage I get.

"" cmos checksum error defaults loaded
warning now system is in safe mode
please reset cpu frequency in the cmos setup"

the keyboard will not work F1 or DEL

please help.

Please let us know what hardware you are using (particularly the motherboard, processor and PSU).

Are you using a USB or PS2 keyboard?

I am using ecs motherboard Ge force6100sm
Amd dual core 4800
transcend dua channel ddr2 800
ps2 keyboard

Do you have the keyboard in the correct ps/2 port?

cmos

well I bought new ram still have same proplem ,
cmos goes in to save mode.
any more ideas ????

Unplug the computer from the wall outlet and then remove the motherboard battery for at least 15 minutes. Reinstall the battery and then plug the power cord back in and boot up.

Make sure the CLEAR CMOS pin is on the NORMAL pins, not the CLEAR pins.

Replace the motherboard battery. ECS shipped some motherboards with dead batteries.

well I pulled the battery out waited 15 minutes reboot sane thing
cmos says in save mode, reset cpu frequency !!???

any more ideas

well now i bought new ram kinston still give me cmos errors

ECS used to have a socket A board that did the same, K7S5A, wonder if this is the same problem. If the board is still in warranty I'd RMA it and look for a more reputable brand such as ASUS, EPOX etc...
