Setting Up a old Computer Help.....
We found an old non-working Compaq computer (1998) in the garbage a few weeks ago, and decided to see if we could get it working again. We have taken everything out of the case and put all the parts on the floor, and connected them all (Hard Drive, Video, CD, Power, etc.) We can get it to a Windows 98 screen, but after that screen is gives us a "Windows Protection Error", because we don't know what was wrong with the computer before would reinstalling Windows 98 get the computer running again?

It can't hurt, the os might be corrupted, depending how long it has been sitting around...
