Question 1st build, hard disk boot failure

well here are my specs,

Ecs geforce 6100sm-m mobo
Amd athlon 64 x2 dual core, 4800+
Corsair xms 2 gb ddr2 ram
western digital caviar 160gb hd
Liteon cdrw cd-rom

i get the error message when i start up the system with or without the disc. i tried doing different boot sequences and no luck, how does new ide cable sound, for sure start? can anyone shed some light for me...

what do you have installed on the HD or is it a brand new HD?

if it says it cannot find bootable drive then means you have yoru new HD and need to install the OS (such as windows).

tell us what error message you get exactly and what is on the HD

MSI MS-6712 1.0 (socket A 462) with 2.15 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 2x Barracuda 160GB IDE HD's, 2x Kingston 512mb DDR PC2700 (166mhz) Memory. 2 IDE DVD drives, 1 External HD and one external DVD burner.

Memory card reader, Windows XP SP2. Samsung SM226BW 22" LCD.

new hard drive, i just came back from pc club i picked up a new ide cable i talked to some guys there and lets see where it takes me.

im buying a new cd-rw rom hmmm maybe cus the dvd-rom i have is old and absolete...
