Question about new case

Hey guys,

I just received my new case in the mail. It's a XION case. It's awesome to say the least, but that's beside the point.

There are quite a few wires for the power switch, reset, etc. I feel that I've gotten most of them hooked up, however the power button doesn't work, and the HDD lights don't work either. Where do you plug them up at? What does the motherboard say? It's an older motherboard that came out of a computer I bought at a store, so no clue on what type of motherboard it is and definitely no manual. It's an 8595c pavillion if that helps.

I saw some that said like PWRLED, etc. Not sure where to plug them in at. Can you plug them in backwards? Also, what happens if it includes several HDD light switches? How do you know which one to plug in?

Thanks,

Zac

What kind of connectors did the original case have? Individual connectors for power button, reset, HDD LED, etc? Or just one big connector?

List all the names for the wires connectors...like PWRLED, PWRON, RESET, etc.

Look on the motherboard for a diagram that shows you which pin is which on the front panel header.

Only the LED connectors have to been connected a certain way, the power and reset connectors can go on either way as long as you have them on the right pins. If the LEDs don't light up, just flip the connector 180 degrees on the pins.

Just use one. Never mind the rest.

Maybe i'm not plugging the HDD connector in the right slot. They are all individual ones.

Here are the current switches that I have... I'm thinking the reset button is working, but hopefully you guys can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.

OK, as far as connectors go.... with the motherboard pins i've got them plugged into....

CABLE -> MOTHERBOARD PINS

RESET SW -> RESET
POWER SW -> PWR
HDD LED -> LED

These are the unused pins that I'm not sure what to do with...

PLED
IDELED
SPEAKER
SMI
KEYLOCK

Do I have them plugged in right?

Thanks,

Zac

OK. I moved POWERSW from PLED to PWR and the power button is working now, the reset button works, but the HDDLED doesn't. I'm not sure how to get it to work. I tried moving it from LED to IDELED, but I'm still not getting anything. All these pins are grouped together in what looks like 2 rows of 8 pins. Don't quote me on that, I didn't count each individual pin, but they are all right next to each other. Does that particular cable need to be plugged in somewhere else?

Thanks,

Zac

These are correct...except maybe the last one. You sure it just says LED?

You don't need these.

If the LEDs don't light up, flip the connector on the pins 180 degrees.

I've got one more question for you... I've got two more connectors... they look like 8 pin connectors (2 rows of 4 each). I'm not sure where to connect them. I've got an old ASUS mobo with a pentium 3 733mhz processor. Any ideas on whether I can even hook them up?

Thanks,

Zac
