is this how CPU should be installed?

I am installing a C2D and was wondering if it's really that easy to install a processor; I just set it onto the socket and is that actually how it is? No clicks or anything? just like laying something on top of one another? If it is, then I am glad since it really was no hassle and very simple.

No, you have to use force to get the four pins into the holes. They will all snap in.

You do with the heatsink.

Make sure you lock the CPU itself in with the little lever. If you did that, then that's it. The heatsink is a little trickier though...

The LGA775 socket does have a CPU hold down that you have to lift up in order to drop the CPU in. Then you have to lock this down to hold the CPU in the socket.

LGA775 socket open

LGA775 socket closed
