Another freezing problem and more

I got a bunch of parts in from newegg this friday, and build my computer. When I first turned it on, it worked just fine, got the drivers and everything installed, worked like a charm. I ran 3dMark06 twice since i have turned it on with no problems, got somewhere around 11000 or so. I played Oblivion on full settings for an hour, then some Company of Heroes running DirectX 10, still no problems. Then today, I went to update my iPod after transferring my music over, and the whole computer froze. All of the programs stopped responding, followed by BSOD with a phsyical memory dump. After that I restarted it, turned it back on and it would load up windows, but running any program (iTunes, firefox, solitaire, etc) it would freeze computer, though usually not a BSOD (i only got BSOD twice). So I took it apart and made sure all the power connections were right and made sure that nothing seemed hot, and the only thing that I noticed was hot was the GPU. The plastic fan area was really warm, and if i happened to accidentally touch the metal connected to it it was almost hot enough to burn the skin. I booted it in safe mode and reinstalled the video drivers and it ran fine for about another hour, and so I turned it off, put the case side panel back on and put it back next to my desk, adn when i went to turn it on, now as soon as it gets done going through BIOS and tries to load windows it just shuts off entirely.

Last I checked I was running in the upper 40s for CPU and MB temps, and no idea for memory or GPU.

Any ideas? It is currently sitting next to me cooling off unplugged and everything.

I have:
Vista Business 32-Bit
BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GTX OC
OCZ 600W StealthXStream PSU
ASUS Striker Extreme Mobo
4 GB (4 x 1 GB) Corsair XMS2 DDR2 SDRAM @ 1066 MHz
Intel Core 2 Duo e6700 Conroe

I would say that it is a problem with iTunes working with Vista. If you Google "iTunes on Vista" ,you will find possible solutions and ongoing problems.

Looks to me like all the threads now say something along the lines of "there were problems, but no longer." It would strike me as odd if this was an iTunes problem because I have been running Vista on my old computer for 3 months before I built this one and never had a problem once, plus, that was only when the problems started.

Also, after letting it sit and cool for a while, the computer works again and I got nTune to monitor temps, and i get CPU about 48 to 52, System 42 to 44, GPU 70 to 75 idling, and then about 80 or so for CPU and GPU under load, and upper 40s or low 50s for system at load.

If the CPU is going into the 80s temp wise, I would say that the CPU Heatsink isn't installed correctly. If you can jiggle the heatsink, then it isn't fully latched to the motherboard(one of the four pins isn't fully locked in).

Well I just checked. I cannot jiggle the heatsink at all, and I did make sure the thermal paste was on there.

If you used the stock heatsink that came with the CPU, the heatsink has a thermal pad already on it. If you added thermal compound, then the extra thermal compound can act as an insulator between the CPU and heatsink which would cause the CPU to overheat.
