What is the budget for this build? Also do you plan to overclock on this build or not?

I would personally recommend an Intel Core 2 Duo build right now over an AMD one, they are outperforming current AMD builds and you receive better performance for $.

I kind of wanted AMD i dont know why. But my budget is around $800 without the monitor.
So Intel is much better than AMDs right now?

Thats a matter of opinion, but the figures do show that intel have an advantage in the speed stakes at the moment. 'Much' better........ No, faster... yep.

Still thats a decent build.

I'm using the AMD 4600 and am very happy with it. Used mostly for browsing, MS Office word processing and spredsheet use. No gaming, so I can't comment on performance in that arena. Are you planning on installing 2 GPUs? If not, you could go with the ASUS M2n-E and use the extra $ for a GeForce with 512MB

That's the wrong speed RAM you have listed. You want DDR2 800 (PC2 6400), not DDR2 667 (PC2 5400).

And I wouldn't use that Thermaltake power supply, I'd use something better...like this.

$166 - Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 Conroe 1.86GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor – Retail - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115015 – Great CPU.

$75 - ASUS P5L-MX LGA 775 Intel 945G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard – Retail - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131041 – Could go with a P5B or a P5K and downgrade the video card a bit.

$80 - CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory – Retail - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145098

$137 - SAPPHIRE 100176L Radeon X1950PRO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card – Retail - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102061 – You could get a nicer motherboard and downgrade the video card a bit if you want. The 8600GT is on the same level as the 7600GT but it has DX10 so if you are gaming you might want to look into the 8600GT: $115 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130085

$70 - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3250620AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive – OEM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148144 – If you don’t need this much room you could drop it down to save money. Seagate 7200.10’s are the recommended HD’s b/c of their Perpendicular Recording Technology that makes them speedy.

$38 – LiteOn 20X DVD Burner – Retail - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106057 – Retail version comes with burning software.

$37 - FSP Group (Fortron Source) ATX400-PA, version 2.0, SATA, 400W Power Supply – OEM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104952 – Could upgrade this if you want to get a nicer video card in the future without having to upgrade you PSU.

$90 - Microsoft Windows XP Home With SP2B 1 Pack – OEM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116056 – We recommend XP for now until Vista gets some service pack(s).

$108 – Antec 900 - http://www.directron.com/ninehundred.html - Free shipping & lower price than newegg.

That comes out to $801 before shipping. That doesn’t include MIR’s because they can void warranties.

This chart (and the whole article for that matter) is helpful when buying video cards: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/07/...7.html#summary

Enjoy your build!
