Need a lot of help with this build...
I'm going to be going to school for Game Design, and I design a lot in my free time. I have a lot of design programs, and I need a lot of power to keep everything running at least semi-smoothly and my current PC isn't cutting it anymore. I need something huge, something to last longer. Basically these are the specs I'm looking at, and I need to make sure it'll all pan out okay when I get the parts and put it together. I know it might be overkill, but these are the specs I want, and I have the money to put into it, and I want to make sure I'm putting money into something worth buying. If you think I need to change something, and you decide to post, please tell me something that is practically the equivalent, only better, unless you can't. Mainly, I wanna make sure it's all compatible. Any help or say you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! ~Eric~ |

that looks pretty good but i dont know maybe you would want a bigger monitor for game design. 20 inches just isnt that big anymore go 22in. also the sunbeam tuniq tower might be better for cooling that what you suggested there is a good price on that at the heatsinkfactory.com (its actually a good site)

Would drop the HD radiator, probably not worth the extra cost for maybe a few degrees cooler HDs.
Would also wait on the liquid cooling kit, generally it's considered better to buy seperate, quailty parts than buying a kit. And would see how your system works with air coolong before going the liquid route.

Don't waste your money on the blu-ray. I'm not saying not to because I don't think you'll need it eventually, but Blu-Ray drives will become 50 dollars or less just like DVD drives did. DVDs should hold everything you need at this point. I haven't seen any software that comes on Blu-Ray yet. Wait a year or two, and the drives will be better and ALOT cheaper.

What about compatibility-wise? Will the parts play nice?

Everything looks to be able to play nice with each other.
A couple of suggestions: if not going to OC, would go for Corsair Value Select DDR2 667 in a 2gig kit. Would also look at the Asus P5K series of motherboards, probably a bit better than the Gigabyte and a bit more money. The 700w Fortron PSU is a bit of overkill but Newegg has a good price on them. |
