CPU Clamp Supposed to...

Is the CPU clamp supposed to be hard to press down and lock? It feels like I'm going to damage the CPU if I put too much pressure on it.

My CPU is an E6320 Core 2 Duo and my Mobo is a P5L; the gold pin is located there the level contacts the CPU socket, the writing on the CPU is upright when the lever is on my left. But, when I put it in, it fat in right, then I put the latch over it, and now... when I try to latch the lever back onto the hitch thing, it's a bit hard to push down, is it supposed to be this tight?

You're going to feel some resistance because the clamp is designed to put pressure on the CPU to hold it firmly against the pins in the socket...so what you're feeling is normal.
