Does the IDE/PATA cable...
Does the IDE/PATA hook into the Optical Drive?

Yes, IF you have an IDE optical drive. A SATA cable is needed with SATA opticals.

This drive came form my old PC that had one of those IDE cable looking things that was the same width. But, the only difference is 1 missing pin on the connector.

So, I was confused if this one was the IDE cable, because ASUS put a sticker that says it's the HDD cable, and the other is a FPP cable. But, I guess it's the IDE cable. Newegg says it's the IDE cable, and not the "HDD" cable.

For all practical purposes (and Not including SATA) : IDE (cable) = HDD (cable) = PATA (cable) = optical (cable) = EIDE (cable) = ATA (cable) = ATA 100 / 133 (cable)
