Fans for Thermaltake Case
I have a Thermaltake Xaser III Case with 7 80mmx80mmx25mm fans -- 12V, 0.10 amps -- which came with the case. One fan has stopped working so I want to buy a new one. Actually, I would like to upgrade the fans if I can. I have excess capacity on the power supply if I need it. What would you suggest/recommend. Do I have to stick with Thermaltake fans or are fans interchangeable? Appreciate any input ... Thanks

Those are basic 2 wire fans. If you go to Newegg and look under case fans you will find a good selection to choose from. With the Xaser case, there really is an excees number of fans. I removed the whole fan side panel with no affect on cooling.

Do you even need all 7 case fans? Basic cooling setup is 1 intake fan up front and 1 exhaust fan on the back.
Side intake fan is a good idea if you're running a hot video card. If you're overclocking adding a second exhaust fan to help remove heat might also be a good idea. But 7 fans is really way too much. I would experiment with your computer to see if using more or less fans actually does anything to the system temps. All 3 of my computers only have 1 exhaust fan on the back plus the fan in the power supply for case cooling. I have no overheating problems and have less fan noise. Cricket
