computer powers up but the set up is wierd to me

After like a week of fumbling with my computer, i found out that all i needed a little bit of thermal paste(thanks to cricket and many others) now im having trouble with setting up the pc. This is what my screen says(black and white..im guessing thats DOS)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to ASUS Motherboard Make Disk for DOS Menu
1) Nvidia Raid Driver Page
2) Jmicron JM 363 RAID Driver Disk
3) Free DOS command prompt
Choose 1~3
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, I looked in the motherboard manual and it said to format the floppy in DOS mode so i pressed '3' and did the format A:/S + ENTER, and that formatted the disk. I went back to the main menu and pressed '1' and saved whatever it had in that section onto the disk (32bit Nvidia). But instead of moving on, you can only return to the main page over and over again... Im pretty sure you can do something about this in DOS mode, or am i diong something wrong....

My Set Up
Motherboard-- ASUS M2N SLI motherboard AM2 socket
Memory-- G.SKILL 2 1gig
CPU-- AMD 64 X2 AM2 socket
Power-- Thermaltake TR2- 430W
Video Card-- GeForce 8600 GTS OC)
Hard Drive-- Seagate 280gig

Did you already install the OS (Windows?) onto the hard drive yet?

I tried doing it with my old hard drive(Vista) but when i turn the computer on, it goes to the screen where if you shut the comp down improperly, it gives you an option to start the comp in safe mode. I chose each option, safe mode, normal mode, etc, but it kept on restarting the comp and i get the same screen.

So i unplugged the old hard drive and tried it with my new one(280g) and it goes to the black screen with the 3 choices(first post) <---clean slate, no OS

Try installing the OS to the new hard drive.

You have to go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to the CD-ROM drive. Then put the Windows installation CD in the drive and Save and Exit the BIOS. The computer will restart to the CD drive and the installation process will begin. Follow the on-screen instructions. After Windows is installed, then you put the motherboard CD in the CD-ROM drive and install all the necessary drivers.
